About Us


Jewellers Vigilance Canada Inc. ( JVC ) is a non-profit association to advance ethical practices and loss prevention within the jewellery industry. JVC works in full partnership with the RCMP and other law enforcement agencies.

JVC has a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of industry leaders from refiners to manufacturers, large chain retailers to independently owned single store retailers and a representative from all major industry associations.

We are making it our mandate to help jewellers take charge and take action to make everyday a safe and profitable one. This web site along with our crime prevention program is dedicated to fulfilling this mandate.


Phyllis Richard,
Executive Director

Phyllis Richard joined JVC in April 1996 as Executive Director. Her involvement with the jewellery industry began with Henry Birks and Sons in the 1970's where she remained for fifteen years. After leaving Birks she joined an import company based in Toronto as General Manager where she remained for six years.

John Lamont
JVC Director of Loss Prevention

Also a Regional Loss Prevention Manger for a major Jewellery chain. Working in jewellery loss prevention for 18 years. Prior to that John Lamont was a Sergeant with the Toronto Police Services.

Carla Adams
Executive Coordinator

Carla Adams joined JVC in August 1994. Carla deals with all the day to day operations for JVC and works closely with consumers and the trade.
Previously, she had spent 10 years with the Canadian Bar Association as a Section Coordinator organizing legal seminars for lawyers across Ontario.
