On Wednesday, December 15 th , 2010 at approximately 11:38am , three male subjects wearing what appeared to be pastel coloured burkas over their clothes, with only their eyes visible, entered a retail jewellery store in Fairview Park Mall, Kitchener , Ontario . One of the subjects had a suitcase on wheels. Within a very short period of time, a sledgehammer was produced as well as a machete. Three showcases containing diamonds were smashed and trays of product were stolen. The subjects fled with duffel bags and suitcases, through the food court to a silver or grey minivan waiting outside. They were last seen heading down Kingsway Drive .
Police were on scene within minutes of the incident, but the subjects were already gone. No store staff members or customers were physically hurt during this occurrence.
