THEFT – TRAVELLING SALES PERSON- RED DEER, ALBERTA

On November 28th 2008, a Toronto, Ontario based gem dealer was travelling in Alberta carrying a substantial amount of product with him in a container. He had made several calls to clients during the day. At 6:30pm he was driving on Highway 2 in Red Deer when his vehicle became disabled. He pulled off the highway and while making a call for roadside assistance a group of subjects approached his car, stole the container from the seat of the car and fled.

RCMP have stated that the gem dealer had most likely been under surveillance for some time, since the subjects knew enough about him to locate him, identify his vehicle and disable it. The victim was not threatened or assaulted in this incident.

Details and descriptions of the subjects are unavailable at this time.

Anyone with information regarding this occurrence is asked to contact Cpl. Kim Pasloske of the RCMP at 403-699-2611 or Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-TIPS.

JVC recommends that all travelling sales people practice “counter surveillance”. For more information, contact JVC at any of the numbers shown above.
