On Friday, November 12th at the 2010 Robbery Investigators Seminar, (held in the Sheridan Hotel, Toronto, ON) Jewellers Vigilance Canada presented to the York Regional Police Hold-Up Squad the first Award of Merit for the investigation and arrests of eight members of an organized jewellery crime gang that were targeting members of the jewellery industry in the greater Toronto area. Warrants have also been issued for four other members of this gang. As well as a plaque, Certificates of Appreciation were also given to D/Cst. Doug Bedford, Det. Don Cardwell, Det. Dave Noseworthy, D/Cst. Stef Pleskina, D/Cst. Steve Beale and D/Cst. Steve Coombs. Det. Noseworthy and D/Cst. Bedford accepted the Certificates and Plaque on behalf of the other members.

Jewellers Vigilance Canada will continue to show its appreciation to Police Officers throughout Canada for their outstanding achievements in the fight against criminal activity perpetuated against the jewellery community, through their dedication and professionalism in performing their duties, their commitment to networking within the police community as well as with outside private security to investigate all avenues in the apprehension of these criminals.
