THEFT – TRAVELLING SALESPERSON BURLINGTON , ONTARIO

On October 11 th 2007 , a travelling salesperson, who had flown in to Toronto from British Columbia the previous day, had just completed approximately six sales calls in three different cities. The person at the next appointment in Burlington was late arriving so the salesperson decided to go and have a quick lunch somewhere. The salesperson parked the rental vehicle right outside the entrance to a large retail store and left the “line” in the trunk of the locked vehicle. Fifteen minutes later, at approximately 1:30pm the salesperson returned to the vehicle and found her luggage, which had been in the trunk, opened and obviously torn apart, now in the back seat of the car and her bag containing her sales line gone.

Law enforcement officers attended at the scene; collected fingerprints and information, as well as a series of pictures of the missing sales line that the salesperson still had in her possession.

The salesperson stated that no one other than family knew that she was in Toronto to do sales calls, as scheduled appointments had not been set up prior to her arrival.

This salesperson had obviously been spotted going in and out of jewellery stores earlier in the day and had been relentlessly followed by people who were waiting for that “opportunity” when the line was left in the vehicle.
