DISTRACTIONS THEFTS, ALBERTA – SEPTEMBER, 2009

On Tuesday, September 8th 2009 at 11:30am two subjects, a male and a female entered a retail jewellery store located in the Sherwood Park Mall, Alberta.  They asked a sales associate to look at engagement rings.  After a short period of time looking at different rings, the subjects left the store and it was discovered that two diamond rings of substantial value were missing from the showcase.  Store security video, when viewed later, showed the female distracted the sales associate while the male reached into the open display cabinet.

It is believed that these same two subjects have recently victimized four other retail jewellery stores in the same manner, one located in the St. Albert Centre, St. Albert, Alta., one in the Bower Place Mall, Red Deer, Alta., and two locations in Stettler, Alberta where they did steal merchandise.  The female wore the same black cap at some of these locations.

The male is approximately 6’ tall, 230-240 lbs, very short haircut, and “has a very long reach”.  The female is described as 5’6” tall, 160 lbs., long auburn hair in a braid hanging over her shoulder.  She wears a black cap.  Please refer to JVC Bulletins 2009-054 and 2009-055 for photos of these two subjects.

If these two subjects enter your store, contact your mall security immediately.  If any of JVC’s members feel they may have been victimized by these two people, please contact your local police or JVC.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sherwood Park Police Service, (780) 467-7741 referring to file #1065392..
