At 1:30pm on Wednesday, May 28 th 2008 , two male subjects were buzzed into a jewellery showroom on Kingsway, Burnaby , British Columbia . The staff remembered that one of the subjects had been in the showroom the previous day, and they had been suspicious of him at that time. The staff went to “high security mode”. Their suspicions were correct. One of the males drew a gun. One of the staff members had positioned themselves at the showroom door and immediately left the premises; pressed a silent alarm which was on his person and called 911.
Since the subjects ran out of time, they only managed to break and steal the contents of 2 of the 60 showcases that are in the store.
One of the cases contained hundreds of gold wedding bands, from 10k to 18k and a few dozen gents diamond wedding bands. Two of the bands are distinct, hand made, yellow and white gold with princess cut diamonds down the channel. One is matte finish and the other is polished. The other case contained dozens of trays marked, “Your choice” $99 to “Your choice” $799. Each tray contained 25 rings.
One of the male subjects was apprehended the next day. The store staff was able to identify him and some of the merchandise was recovered.
With information available at the time of the publication of this bulletin, it is believed that the second male subject is still at large.
