THEFTS-TRAVELING SALESPERSONS - ONTARIO

Over the past three months, there have been three incidents where traveling salespersons, all from the same company, have had their vehicles attacked. Briefcases have been stolen and merchandise has been stolen.

On March 14, 2007, a traveling salesperson was doing business at Woodbine Centre. The “line” had been returned to the trunk of the vehicle. The vehicle alarm was set and the vehicle then locked. Upon return to the vehicle minutes later, the salesperson found one of the rear passenger windows smashed and a briefcase and a bag stolen. Toronto Police Service Div. #23 Occurrence #2055091.

On April 10, 2007 at approximately 4:00am, this same salespersons vehicle was attacked in Ajax , Ontario . The driver's side door window had been smashed, the trunk latch on the dashboard was released and a bag was removed from the trunk through a very narrow space left when the security chain is in place. The car's alarm did activate but was not heard by the victim, and unfortunately was ignored by other members of the public. Durham Police Occurrence #40937.

On May 3, 2007 another traveling salesperson from the same company, had made a stop at about 5:30pm in front of a bank in Barrie , Ontario . Approximately 15 minutes later the vehicle was found with its front passenger window smashed and a briefcase stolen. Barrie Occurrence #7014872.
