• Feel the raised ink 5 and the unique texture of the paper.
• Tilt the note, and look for the changing colours/images in the holographic stripe 1 , and the windowed security thread 3 (on the back of the note).
• Look at and through the note.
• Hold it to the light. Look for the watermark portrait 2 , the windowed security thread 3 , and the see-through number 4 .
• Look for sharp, well-defined lines and characters in the background patterns 6 .
• Under UV light, look for text glowing yellow and red over the portrait 7 , and for fibres glowing yellow or red, scattered randomly across the note. (Blue fibres, visible in normal light, do not glow.)
