Canadian 100

The security features on A Canadian $100 are
quick, easy, and reliable to use.

•  Feel the unique texture of, and raised ink on, the paper 5

•  Tilt the note, and look for the changing colours/images in the holographic stripe 1 , and windowed security thread ( 4 – on the back of the note).

•  Look at and through the note

•  Hold the note to the light, and look for the watermark 2 , the see-through number 3 , and the windowed security thread 4 .

•  Look for sharp, well-defined lines and characters in the background patterns of the note 6 .

•  Under UV light, look for glowing text in yellow and red over the portrait 7 , and for glowing yellow or red fibres scattered across the note. (Blue fibres, visible in normal light, do not glow.)

If you suspect that a note is counterfeit:

•  Stop the transaction and keep the note (if possible, without placing yourself at risk).

•  Call your supervisor, security officer, and/or the local police.

•  Record the details of the transaction.

•  Give the note only to the police and request a receipt.

•  Every store should have a counterfeit money detector.
